October 2026
The full moon in August is traditionally called the Sturgeon Moon, named for the lake sturgeon that were most abundant in late summer in the Great Lakes region. Here in the Santa Cruz Mountains, the thick, dark clouds created a gorgeous image that seemed perfectly spooky for our October cover.
Our Cover Photo by Faizi Samadani Faizi captured this dramatic shot of the full moon, just before the partial lunar eclipse in late August.
