I consider myself a portrait photographer. When I began photographing spring flowers, I approached them as I would any portrait subject—searching for authenticity, individuality, and presence. Each flower reveals its own character through light, form, and subtle imperfection.

Rather than documenting botanical specimens, I seek to portray personality and emotion within each bloom. While every image stands alone as a portrait, together they create a shared experience of renewal, freshness, and the quiet beauty of spring.

My work will be featured in Skyland Church’s Whitaker Hall. You can visit the exhibit on Sundays throughout the month of June, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Whitaker Hall is at 25100 Skyland Road. The 30th annual Woodies on the Wharf will be on Saturday, June 27, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., on the Santa Cruz Municipal Wharf. This is Northern California’s largest woodie show, featuring hundreds of woodies lining the wharf. Admission is free. There will be raffles, live music, hula performances, and Santa Cruz Woodies merchandise available to purchase. The woodies parade off the wharf starts at 3:30 p.m.
