The operator rides ten feet in the air above each row of vines, which typically grow over six-feet tall. These tractors drive over each vineyard row for multiple operations, such as pruning and harvest. It can also do mowing, leaf thinning, and spraying.

Next time you drive through the Central Valley, look for these impressive and expensive beasts out in the vineyards. The Pellenc tractor in the photo costs over $490,000, and attachments cost extra. It is surrounded by signs that say, “Financing Available!” It was fun to walk through the vertical slot and see how very small I am compared to this big yellow monster.
